Chairman Leaf Resigns From RA Board

RA CEO post shortlisted - but on hold for now

Michael Leaf has resigned as a Director and Chairman of the Board of the Racing Association as at 6 April 2020.

Michael Leaf – resigned

In a press release published on Tuesday 7 April 2020, the RA says that Leaf served as a Trustee on the Thoroughbred Horseracing Trust and as a Director and Chairman on the Board of the Racing Association.

Mr Leaf has served the industry with dedication since 2007 and his official term on the RA Board was due to conclude as at the end of July 2020.  He therefore felt this was an opportune time for the current Board to consider new appointees.

It has been decided by the Board that Brian Riley will act as interim Chairman until a suitable replacement is found.

The board thanked Mr Leaf for his incredible dedication to the industry and the passionate role he played throughout his term of office.

As you may be aware, the RA is also following a process to appoint a new CEO.  A shortlist has been drawn up but in light of the current lockdown it has been decided to put the process on hold until such time as there is more certainty on the return of horse racing.
