R2 million Pick 6 Today

KZN Season champions honoured

Durban weather indicates a 90% chance of rain for today’s Hollywoodbets Greyville turf meeting with an eight-race programme this afternoon.

The racemeeting honours the KZN Season Champions.

The COVID-19 pandemic has derailed the usual end-of-season function celebrating the best of KZN racing over the season and a greatly watered-down event takes place in the Durban View Room restaurant.

The function is by invite only given the current restrictions on gatherings, and seven of the eight races carded are named in honour of the various award winners.

A R200 000 Pick 6 carryover could see the pool reach R2 million.

The first leg of the Pick 6 is race 3 and is off at 13h35.

The first race is off at 12h25 while the last race is due off at 16h30.

The false rail is set at 5m.

Jockey Warren Kennedy has been stood down.

Spirit Of My Fate from the Dennis Drier stable takes his place in the last race and looks to be the Pick 6 banker.

His last two starts over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville have been good.

Trainer Dennis Drier (Pic – Candiese Lenferna)

Jimmy The Rich writes that the manner in which he finished off those races suggests that he will enjoy the rise to the mile.

The son of Master Of My Fate looks progressive and if not too green around the turn, he should take a power of beating.

Antigonus from the in-form stable of Wayne Badenhorst and Barbara Kennedy is the best value on today’s card. He should have finished a lot closer to the winner last time, but had no clear run up the straight which meant his jockey could not ride him out.

The run that catches the eye is when finishing second over 1500m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, three runs ago. With a bit of luck in running, he may be the one to cause the upset.

  • The Bipot starts in the first at 12h25
  • The Place Accumulator starts in the second at 13h00
  • The Pick 6 starts in the third at 13h35
  • Jackpot 1 starts in the fourth race at 14h10
  • Jackpot 2 starts in the fifth race at 14h45
