The great racing information machine continued to cough and splutter this week again. Racing almost ground to a halt at the Vaal on Tuesday.
Yet we are rostered to race at the same track on Thursday afternoon and the going has been declared as officially ‘good’.
Not a squeak yet out of the racing operator but private sources -thanks to them – inform us that two horses are scheduled to gallop early in the morning.
The Sporting Post has been contacted regularly today with the inevitable ‘is it on or off?’ from die-hard punters, on the verge of tearing what little hair most of them have left, out in pure frustration.
Tuesday’s Stipes Report tells of a pre meeting track inspection. There was also a jockey protest prior to the fourth.
Images of the Vaal track did the rounds. We had owners, trainers and jockeys asking where the O’Connor track report of 2018 was and what difference it had made – and what was implemented.
Who knows? Phumelela hardly spoke to the public in year’s past – since the BR expert and the financial whizz kid are running the show, there is just deathly silence. We’d love to know what the RTT make of it all. All the while SA racing bleeds.
