Snaith Towers Above Them!

Camelot gelding shows his class with courageous win

Vodacom Durban July entry Crown Towers, the best son of Camelot to race in South Africa, took the Gr3 Hollywoodbets Dolphins Cup Trial Handicap by the bit and relentlessly held off all challengers.  Richard Fourie bounced Crown Towers to the lead and trusted the gelding to relax in front.

Justin Snaith had a 4-horse coupling into the race with most of his string lightly raced in KZN this season. Owned by Nic Jonsson in partnership with the late Jack Mitchell, Crown Towers flew the flag loyally to take his 7th victory in 21 starts.

Although out of a Galileo mare, Crown Towers has been campaigned like a horse who just gets 2000m which might explain his withdrawal from The July this year.

“He’s an incredible horse,” Justin Snaith praised his gelding’s effort as the proper beginning of his season. Snaith went on to praise his fellow Cape trainer’s performances saying that Vaughan Marshall has dominated the SA Champions Season.

Crown Towers is out of 5-time winning Galileo mare Miss With Attitude and was bought for AUS$280k in 2017.

Punters were treated to a thrilling finish as Crown Tower, a cool favourite at 4/1, bravely held off Tristful, Nexus and last year’s winner Capoeira who all finished within 0.90 lengths in 110.36secs which was a little slower than the class record of 108.7 seconds.
