There are reports that the Hong Kong Jockey Club is expecting to have racing resume at showpiece mainland facility Conghua as early as October.

The event, an exhibition meeting that potentially aligns with an Asian Racing Conference China edition, follows an initial non-betting meeting whose sequel was moth-balled due to ongoing Hong Kong unrest.
The HKJC’s Andrew Harding said, “There are very interesting developments taking place in the mainland and we really are at a point where it would be useful for the international community to give a special focus to the development of the industry [in China].”
Of special note is Harding’s suggestion that the current Hong Kong-Conghua disease-free zone could be widened to also include Macau and the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong – effectively creating a quarantine hub.
