It’s been popularly labelled the Greatest Show On Turf, and with fans expected back in recordbreaking numbers at Prestbury Park, the 2022 Cheltenham Festival promises the very best of horseracing action and entertainment from Tuesday through to Friday this week.

After the Irish domination of Cheltenham 2021, which saw the raiders win 23 of the 28 action-packed races, the British trainers will be looking to hit back with a vengeance over a four-day spectacular of jumps racing action.

The 2022 Cheltenham Festival runs from Tuesday 15th to Friday 18th March.

There are seven races carded over each of the four days, with the first off at 15h30 and the final event at 19h30 every day.

DAY 1 – TUESDAY 15TH MARCH
Seven races are scheduled for Day One of the Cheltenham Festival. 
The feature race of the day is the Unibet Champion Hurdle, a 2 mile Grade 1 race. This takes place at 15:30.

DAY 2 – WEDNESDAY 16TH MARCH
On the second day, the highlight is the Betway Queen Mother Champion Steeple Chase. 
Runners in this Grade 1 event jump over 12 fences over the course of 2 miles. 
 It is the highlight of the traditionally known Ladies’ Day and is off at 15:30.

One of the key dates for Cheltenham Festival 2022 is St Patrick’s Day, as it marks the third day of racing. 
The feature race today is the Ryanair Steeple Chase at 14:50.

DAY 4 – FRIDAY 18TH MARCH – GOLD CUP DAY
The focus of the day will be The Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup, as the name suggests. 
Over three miles and two furlongs long, this is the premier race of the event. 
It will begin at 15:30, and the winner will take home the Gold Cup.
