Avontuur-Bred Dreamworld Raises The Bar

Vaughan Marshall the master!

One World’s smart son Dreamworld ran his opposition off their feet to win the R300 000 Gr3 Winter Nursey at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Sunday to make it a double for his record-breaking champion freshman sire after One Stripe’s victory in 2024.

Saddled by Vaughan Marshall, who saddled the One World exacta of One Stripe and Lion Rampart last year, Dreamworld looks set to step up in ground in the Langerman after showing courage and smart ability to withstand all challengers.

Gavin Lerena took the fight to his seven opponents for a convincing and confident victory, as Dreamworld (33-10) stayed on to beat Absolutely Yes (10-1) by a length in a time of 64,55 secs for the straight 1100m on a windless afternoon.

Debut winner All The Rage (33-10) ran a cracker a half length back in third, with Orbit (33-1) boosting the quartet in fourth.

The 28-10 favourite North Point was disappointing back in fifth.

The winner is owned in partnership Reiner and Cheryl Gabler and Ken and Jane Truter.

A R650 000 Cape Premier Yearling Sale graduate, the smart colt was bred by Avontuur out of the Oasis Dream mare Dream De Ra – a granddaughter of their fondly remembered superstar, Val De Ra.

Now a winner of 2 races with a second place in the Cape Slipper, Dreamworld took his stakes bank to R567 188.

Earlier on in the day, Justin Snaith and Richard were on the mark in the opener with the Ambiance Stud bred One World filly She’s My World who delivered the goods after three placed efforts. It might be worth noting that Andrew Fortune suggested that debutante runner-up Du Maurier should win next time!

There was no joy for the Snaith-Fourie combination in the second race when the 4-10 Clair De Lune, a 2yo in open company, was well beaten by the Plattner galloper Rikitikkitavi, who stayed on well after a solid debut. The La Plaisance Stud-bred daughter of Querari was ridden by Corne Orffer.

A false start failed to create any chaos in the third as Richard Fourie grabbed his second winner courtesy of Des McLachlan’s Jet A One, who exited the maiden ranks at 2-1 to give Ambiance Stud their second success on the day. Spectacular improved smartly over the up in trip to run second, while the favourite Past And Present, who was not given a favourable chirp by JP van der Merwe, plodded into third. His day may come in winter.

Richard Fourie made it 3 winners from 4 races for his 195th winner of the term when producing a powerful ride to get Vaughan Marshall’s grey Dumbledore home in the Pick 6 opener, for a confidence booster ahead of the Winter Nursery!
