Champion producing son of Distorted Humor will stand first SA-season in 2015

G1 Travers Stakes winner Flower Alley has been acquired by Wilgerbosdrift to stand his first South African season in 2015. He’s sire of Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner I’ll Have Another, voted US Champion 3yo colt in 2012.

Flower Alley won five races from 1600 to 2000m at 3 and at 4, including G1 and two G2 races. He was runner-up at 3 in the G1 Breeder’s Cup Classic. With a Timeform rating 127 he was the second highest rated 3yo of his year (behind Afleet Alex 128). Champion I’ll Have Another comes from his second crop, as the highest rated 3yo in 2012 (Timeform 130).

Flower Alley is by leading sire and sire-of-sires Distorted Humor, out of 3-time winning mare Princess Olivia who has two stakes winning sons in Japan. Princess Olivia is by Lycius (Mr Prospector x Lyphard) out of Dance Image (by Sadler’s Wells), while the next dam Diamond Spring is by Vaguely Noble out of a half sister to Lyphard.

Flower Alley sired stakes performers on dirt and turf, including two 2yo SW’s. He’s the second new acquisition for Wilgerbosdrift for 2015, following Gr1 winner Soft Falling Rain (Timeform 129).
