Bloodstock South African graduate Need To Know (Western Winter) picked up his fifth Dubai win on Thursday.
Ridden by Tadhg O’Shea, Need To Know ran on strongly from just off the pace to claim a 1600m conditions race by 2 lengths from former Gr2 Richmond Stakes winner Heavy Metal (Exceed And Excel).

Among the beaten field were last season’s dual Dubai classic winner Polar River (Congrats), who was having her first outing since finishing second to Lani (Tapit) in the Gr2 UAE Derby.
Bred by Varsfontein Stud, Need To Know was a R950 000 purchase from the 2010 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, and he looks sure to add further to his already number of wins in Dubai.

Master Of My Fate (Jet Master – Promisefrommyheart)
Need To Know is a half brother to the popular Varsfontein sire, Master Of My Fate and is the sixth winner for ill-fated Equus Champion Promisefrommheart (Elliodor) – whose progeny include the stakes winner Justthewayyouare (Fort Wood) –dam of Gr3 East Cape Derby hero Captain Splendid (Captain Al).
This is the great Soho Secret family responsible for champions London News and Kings Gambit, as well as the hugely promising Australian sire and former G2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf hero Pluck (sire of impressive recent stakes winner Aspect), and current high class local 3yo Hack Green (Gimmethegreenlight).
Master Of My Fate, a son of seven times champion sire Jet Master, was a top class racehorse, whose widely praised first crop of yearlings will sell in 2017.
