There’s another grand weekend ahead for TAB horseracing customers with the opening meeting of the 2025 KwaZulu-Natal Champions Season and a R500 000 Pick 6 carryover at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday and the three-day Guineas Festival at Newmarket in the UK.

Three Grade 2 feature events head the card at Hollywoodbets Greyville, where the carryover should generate a total Pick 6 pool of some R3 million.

The Guineas Festival kicks off today and gathers momentum through the weekend with the famous 2000 Guineas, first run in 1809, on Saturday and the 1000 Guineas for fillies on Sunday.

Craven Stakes winner Field Of Gold dominates betting on the 2000 Guineas at 13-8 ahead of Expanded from the yard of Aidan O’Brien, who has won the race an amazing 10 times.

In stark contrast John Gosden and his son Thady, who train Field Of Gold, are still looking for their first success in the race. This could be their year, but Field Of Gold hardly looks value in a competitive race and punters may do better to consider the likes of Irish raider Green Impact and Shadow Of Light.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club World Pool tote will be in operation of all races at Saturday’s Newmarket meeting and TAB Win, Place, Exacta, Quinella, Swinger and Trifecta bets will be commingled into the huge Hong Kong pools.

Punters are reminded that Hong Kong Place rules will apply: Less than 4 runners no PLACE betting; 4-6 declared runners payouts FIRST, SECOND; 7 to 20 declared runners payouts FIRST, SECOND, THIRD; 21 or more declared runners payouts FIRST, SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH.
