South African racing’s newsmaking 2025 comeback champion Andrew Fortune takes six rides as he returns to Fairview on Friday after an absence of eight years.
The Candyman last rode in Gqeberha on 19 May 2017, booting home the Sail From Seattle mare Perfect Tale for trainer Alan Greeff.

On Friday his six rides include five for Greeff, with the unbeaten Anotherdanceformme looking a standout in the Listed Dahlia Plate, where the multiple champion trainer saddles 5 of the 8 runners.
In the Listed East Cape Derby, Greeff saddles 6 of the 11 runners with Fortune partnering the Ideal World filly Lotus Island, who is undefeated in the Eastern Cape, having won four on the trot since her runaway maiden victory on the polytrack back in December last year.
Greeff’s recent record with the fairer sex in the East Cape Derby suggests Lotus Island is a big runner. He won it with Joy And Peace last year. She was the second daughter of Master Of My Fate to win the East Cape Derby, with the yard’s American Princess having triumphed in 2020.
The first of 9 races on the Fairview card is off at 11h50.
