Gold Circle HQ. Greyville Racecourse in Durban
Racing operator Gold Circle has distanced itself from an email circulated to members on Friday which promoted seven candidates for positions of Director in the company.
In a responding communication to members Company Secretary Dave Furness termed the action ‘malicious’ and said that it was beyond Gold Circle’s control.
The email is allegedly from a web address which is registered to “Dirte Ink”, with the mail address [email protected].
Furness requested Members’ understanding and said that the matter was receiving attention and that the registered address was being traced. It appears only KwaZulu-Natal members were targetted.
Furness went on to say that the effect of the mail was viral and compounded the distribution as and when a recipient responded to it.
He suggested that Members not respond to the mail and block spam e-mails by inserting the address to be blocked. In this case the two addresses are : [email protected] & [email protected].
He said that recipients could also contact their internet service administrator to block the addresses at the server.
The Sporting Post is in possession of a copy of the allegedly renegade email.
