Hollywoodbets Durban July: Snaith Supplements Querari Gelding

The big race countdown continues

Justin Snaith has supplemented the Querari 4yo Underworld into the Hollywoodbets Durban July after the gelding ran an eyecatching second behind surprise winner Madison Valley in the Hollywoodbets Dolphins Gr3 Cup Trial last Saturday.

The NHA handicappers identified Underworld as the appropriate line horse, keeping his rating at 109.

He looks a lively runner off the 54kg mark on 5 July, even if he has yet to go the 2200m.

Raced by Hong Kong-based JP Cuvelier, Underworld is out of the Parade Leader mare Laverna, who won twice up to a mile. She produced the six -time winning Horace (Fort Wood), who won up to 2400m, amongst mostly sprinter-milers.

A winner of the Listed Somerset 1200 as a 2yo, Underworld has won 5 races and was placed in the WSB Gr2 1900 and Saturday’s feature.

He has been priced up at 25-1 by Hollywoodbets in the ante-post market, and takes the Snaith contingent to 7.

Final supplementary entries close on Tuesday 17 June after which the weights will be published. There are currently 30 entries standing their ground.

Final declarations fall due on Monday 23 June and the field of eighteen runners, with two reserves, will be revealed on Tuesday 24 June when the draw for barrier positions will also take place.

The traditional ‘July’ public gallops will take place at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Thursday 26 June, commencing at 07h00 and all are welcome to attend.
