Saturday’s feature season finale at Hollywoodbets Greyville produced some grandstand finishes, one of which had a contentious outcome.
The Sporting Post was contacted by a handful of readers who expressed some unhappiness at the awarding of the fourth race, the Gr1 Thekwini Stakes, to Canadian Summer ahead of Rock The Fox.
Below is the photo that the judge saw.
The quality is not 100% in this particular image and Canadian Summer’s leg blurs the definition of Rock The Fox’s nose on the line. The latter is in the green and blue.
Eagle-eyed Commentator Craig Peters seemed unsure, but leant towards Rock The Fox.

Canadian Summer by a whisker
Should have been given as a dead heat at worst!
If that third white line in the photo is to separate third and fourth then someone’s ruler must need calibrating.
Or or the finish line went crazy.
The NOSE between the lines shows who won but what interests me about that photo is what significance has the other lone diagonal white line played there.
Where did that line come from/ doing there ?
Has the photograph been compromised ?
The double white line is definitely wider at the top of the photograph. Shouldn’t be.
The photofinish in the old days had ONE straight finish line , no painted in crooked finish lines as depicted here ?
Frankie Zackey…After watching the replay 10 times plus I think the judge got it right… massive swing if Rock The Fox got up,, a massive difference in the P6 payout….
