Incidents involving two jockeys at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday 13 February will come under the spotlight at the official Inquiry which is set to be held in Johannesburg on Tuesday 14 March.
Jockeys Muzi Yeni and Billy Jacobson were placed on an immediate interim suspension by the National Horseracing Authority in terms of the provisions of Rule 91.2. on Wednesday 15 February after allegations arose of verbal and physical abuse, as well as disturbing threats of violence.
They have been kicking their heels ever since and unable to earn a living.
The Sporting Post is aware that both jockeys have laid formal charges at the SAPS and both have legal counsel representing them.
Yeni earlier labelled the suspension a ‘knee jerk’ reaction under potentially unconstitutional circumstances, with his attorney suggesting that a suspension without a hearing is fundamentally unjust and in contravention of his rights in terms of the constitution.
The Sporting Post is unaware of the various charges that will be put to the respective defendants.
