Inquiry – Trainer K G Naidoo
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Durban on 31 October 2011, Trainer K G Naidoo was charged with a contravention of Rule 73.2.4 in that he was the Trainer and the person responsible for the horse PRINCESS RUE, who ran in and won the 2nd race at Clairwood Racecourse on 13 March 2011, after which a urine specimen taken from this horse disclosed upon analysis the presence of Procaine which is a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of The National Horseracing Authority.
Trainer Naidoo pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge. The Inquiry Board imposed a fine of R35 000,00.
Trainer Naidoo elected to exercise his right to be legally represented at this Inquiry and therefore has no right of appeal.
Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.2 PRINCESS RUE is disqualified from this race and the stake monies are to be returned for re-distribution in terms of Rule 67.7.8.
Inquiry – Workrider A Chalala
The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an inquiry held at the Vaal Racecourse on 27 October 2011 Workrider Mr A Chalala was charged with a contravention of Rule 77.2.2, in that a urine specimen taken from him at the Turffontein Racecourse on 20 August 2011 disclosed upon analysis the presence of 11-nor-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol-9-carboxylic acid (carboxy-THC), a metabolite of cannabis, which is a prohibited substance in terms of the Rules of the National Horseracing Authority.
Mr Chalala pleaded guilty to and was found guilty of the charge.
The Inquiry Board imposed a suspension from riding in Workrider Races for a period of one month.
Mr Chalala has the right of appeal.
