Another Kommet In The Wings?

No KZN racing - so Durbanville slots in on Sunday

The R200 000 GG Gaming Klawervlei Farm Sale Graduate Race, won in 2020 by Kommetdieding, tops the billing at Durbanville in an unusual Sunday slot this weekend.

Delayed during lockdown, and only run in June last year, this was the race that launched the meteoric rise of local star Kommetdieding, when he sauntered to a debut victory on a chilly day in June at Kenilworth.

Won in the inaugural year by Sean Tarry’s Rock The Globe , the third renewal reverts to Durbanville, where it will be run over 1250m.

The fourteen horse field includes only one winner in Brett Crawford’s Vercingetorix colt Masked Vigilante – who broke the ice impressively at odd-on when making his debut earlier this month.

The connections of the seven first-timers in Sunday’s line-up will be hoping that a Kommetdieding lurks amongst them.

Sharon Kotzen is the lone raiding trainer and she travels from Fairview with Normandy Stud-bred Coup De Grace colt Zacpack Assassin, who has run two reasonable seconds at home and has the edge as the jointly most experienced contestant in the field.

The race is off at 16h45.
