Muzi Yeni Suspended – Interference

Given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and penalty imposed

The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Sunday, 11 May 2025, Jockey Muzi Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.

The particulars being that, as the rider of RACEWAY, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to WINGS OF ICE (Chase Maujean) and HAWKSDALE (Gavin Lerena) when he shifted in, in the concluding stages of Race 1 at Turffontein Racecourse on 01 May 2025.

Muzi Yeni pleaded not guilty, however, he was found guilty of the charge.

After considering the mitigating factors presented, the Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days.

Jockey M Yeni was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.

The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry held in Gqeberha on Friday, 09 May 2025, Jockey Muzi Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.

The particulars being that as the Rider of BLOSSOMING MIND, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to DANCING IN WINTER (Gareth Wright), TWILIGHT BAY (Craig Zackey) and DUCHESS OF SEVILLE (Richard Fourie) when he shifted out at the 100m in Race 5 at Fairview Racecourse on 11 April 2025.

Jockey Yeni pleaded not guilty, however, he was found guilty of the charge.

After considering the mitigating and aggravating factors, along with Muzi Yeni’s recent record under this Rule, the Inquiry Board imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of seven (7) days.

Muzi Yeni was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and penalty imposed.
