Newsflash: Hollywoodbets Greyville July Day Delayed

Delay to running of last three races

Just two hours after the running of the Hollywoodbets Durban July, the City Of Durban were sitting red-faced after switching the lights off on their leading social and sporting event of the year.

The lights went out at Hollywoodbets Greyville just before the tenth race, the Listed Compendium Insurance Brokers Handicap,  and runners were sent back while urgent calls were made.

The power was returned temporarily at 18h20 but there was a further delay as the floodlights had to be rebooted. The lights then went out again.

There are still three races to be run.

The Sporting Post believes that Hollywoodbets and Gold Circle were assured that the loadshedding would not happen.

Over 50 000 people attended the event in a massive return  to the great days preceding covid.
