court1The news of Gauteng trainer Paul Peter’s R630 000 fine on Wednesday for the use of a forbidden substance and intimidating a jockey club official has sent shockwaves through the South African horseracing industry.

The long drawn out Peter finding was greeted with shock and outrage, with some observers suggesting that he got off lightly for what amounted to ‘ industrial cheating’,  and that he should have been warned off.
