Top colt's sale sees spirited bidding

The first son of champion sire Gimmethegreenlight likely to go to stud in SA, Joey Soma’s five-time Gr1 winner and multiple Equus Champion Got The Greenlight sold for R4 750 000 to existing shareholder Hassen Adams at an auction after the final race at Kenilworth on Cape Derby Day.

Got The Greenlight raced just 21 times for eight wins and ten places.

He won the Premier’s Champion Stakes as a two-year-old, the SA Classic and the Daily News at three and the Horse Chestnut Stakes and the Premier’s Challenge at four, defeating the country’s best. He also finished second and third respectively in successive Durban Julys.

Got The Greenlight won a Group 1 race as a 2yo, 3yo and 4yo.

Got The Greenlight raced for the partnership of Dayalan Chinsammy, Hassen Adams and Joey Soma and won from 1200m – 2000m. The auction was to dissolve the partnership.

He was trained throughout his career by Joey Soma.

The Sporting Post believes that the champion is likely to stand at Nadeson Park.
