Rainbow Dreamer (Alan King/Hollie Doyle) maintained his 100 per cent record at Kempton Park with a game display from the front in the Unibet Conditions Stakes on Saturday.
This was the eight-year-old’s fourth win at the track and guarantees him a place in the Betway All-Weather Marathon Championship at Lingfield Park on Finals Day, Good Friday, April 2.
Rainbow Dreamer was able to control the race from the outset, with Ocean Wind (Roger Teal/Jack Mitchell), Furzig (Richard Fahey/Jack Garritty) and Prince Of Arran (Charlie Fellowes/Tom Marquand) content to follow in Indian file.
After a sedate gallop for the first mile and a half, Rainbow Dreamer increased the tempo before really lengthening at the top of the straight. That change of gear proved decisive for the 13/8 joint-favourite, who never looked like being caught on the run to the line, ultimately scoring by a half-length.
Ocean Wind, the other 13/8 joint-favourite, rallied well to take second after becoming outpaced at the two-furlong pole, with Prince Of Arran a neck further back in third.
Doyle said: “Rainbow Dreamer is a legend; it makes your life a lot easier when you ride horses as straightforward as him.
“It was easy as I got left alone in front. He was hacking around with his ears pricked, loving it, and there was no need to overexert him if I did not need to.
“I went through the gears four down and every time I sensed something getting to my girths, he kept finding a bit more.
