SA Horse Of The Year Tops Big Race Log

4Racing, in conjunction with the NHA Handicappers, have published the first log for the 2024 R6 million Gr1 Betway Summer Cup to be run at Turffontein on Saturday 30 November.

In a press release published on Tuesday15 October 2024, 4Racing advise that Mike De Kock trained dual Grade 1 winner and Equus Horse Of The Year DAVE THE KING, owned in partnership by Messrs L M Nestadt & G J Player & Ralphs Racing (Pty) Ltd (Nom: Miss K Ralphs) heads the log.

De Kock fields a total of seven entries with SILVER SANCTUARY, SAFE PASSAGE, ARAGOSTA, SHOEMAKER, EAST COAST and MARAUDING HORDE making up the balance.

Another two-time Grade 1 winner in SEE IT AGAIN is second on the log. Owned by Nic Jonsson and trained by Michael Roberts, he tops the current Betway ante-post betting.

Defending 2023 Betway Summer Cup champion Royal Victory occupies third on the log. Trained by Nathan Kotzen, he runs for the partnership of Messrs PJ Victor, Late BJ Wiese, Mesdames Natasha Sturdy, BA Victor & Itssa It & Business Solutions (Pty) Ltd.

Sean Tarry charge COUSIN CASEY, owned by Kalinga, is fourth on the log. Sean Tarry has a total of seven entries, including HOTARUBI, FUTURE PEARL, LITIGATION, RED MAPLE, NEBRAAS and JORDAN.

Gr 2 SA Oaks winner FRANCES ETHEL, the ride of international superstar Oisin Murphy, appears in tenth on the log. She started her campaign with a cracking run in last weekend’s stacked Pinnacle Stakes at Turffontein. She runs for Team Valor International, Mr H P Sambor, Mrs Vanashree & Mr Anant Singh and is trained by Brett Crawford.

Second entries close at 11am on Tuesday 05 November, and final entries at 9am on Monday, 18 November 2024, after which weights will be announced. Declarations must be in by 11am on Wednesday, 20 November 2024 and barrier draws will be conducted at a Betway event on 20 November 2024. The final log will be published on Tuesday 05 November 2024.
