As with the Gr1 Paddock Stakes, the Gr1 Cape Flying Championship attracted very few nominations and fewer runners. Val De Ra returned from a six month absence to make a successful Cape Town debut in the Tony Taberer Southern Cross Stakes.
It’s the seasonal debut of the flying filly Val De Ra, and she should take a lot of beating if anywhere near her best.
Any doubts that Val De Ra would not prove as effective over 1200m as she is over the minimum distance were swiftly allayed when she made all the running to win the SA Fillies Sprint at Scottsville
