Time Thief Mare Doubles Up In Ladies Mile

Gutsy showing from consistent galloper

Winless, while consistent, since her victory in the same race a year ago, the 5yo Time For Love benefitted from a beautifully judged ride from Gavin Lerena to earn a deserved victory in the R200 000 Listed Ladies Mile at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Sunday.

Lerena made it a feature double after his victory on Dreamworld in the Winter Nursery a half hour earlier, when tracking the leader Callmegetrix (6-1) into the final 350m before staying on gallantly to withstand a cavalry charge challenge.

At the line Time For Love (9-2) had done enough to clock 99,35 secs for the mile.

Callmegetrix (6-1) was a further 0,40 lengths at the line and stayed on doggedly for second ahead of the improved again Gimmethatpearl (25-1), with Fun Zone (16-1) crowning the quartet.

Just 0,75 lengths covered the first six home.

Saddled by South Africa’s only father -and-daughter training combination, the winner was bred by the late Hassen Adams’ Nadeson Park and is a daughter of their Redoute’s Choice stallion Time Thief out of the twice-winning Jet Master mare, Teresina.

Raced by George Nagel, she was a well-bought R70 000 CTS Ready To Run purchase.

She has now won 4 races with 10 places from 17 starts for stakes of R591 476.
