Lerena To Appeal Gates Crop Incident Findings And Penalties
So any jockey going forward can now interfere with favourites in races and we are all ok with that ? as long as we severely punish anyone who tries his best but retaliates ? punish him hard for trying to win and making the mistake of retaliation out of severe frustration but the guy who interferes with the favourite must get a slap on the wrist ?, and major support from racegoers?,, because apparently any retaliation to any injustice is considered the worst crime in sport,, yet interfering with a fav is ok ? we see retaliation everyday in most sports and mitigating circumstances are taken into consideration, same in horseracing in many jurisdictions worldwide,,
Mitigating circumstances are important factors in legal proceedings that can influence the outcome of a case, particularly in sentencing. They provide context and may lead to a lighter sentence or other more favorable outcomes for the defendant. Why is GL not entitled to this ? after all has he done this before in his thousands of rides ? no, so mitigating circumstance in law recognizes this
Past circumstances:
A history of abuse or other traumatic experiences can be considered in determining the severity of the crime.
Provocation:
If the defendant committed the crime due to extreme provocation, this can be considered a mitigating factor.
Lack of criminal record:
A clean disciplinary record can... read more

Bradley Parks in my thinking you are correct re GL by saying ....JG instigated that incident, Gavin only reacted in frustration, yes 100% wrong and but JG mount bumped and stuck he FIRST with the crop so he was being unsafe first....and you further say...Same goes for GvN and the result was affected by interference and bumping, that’s unsafe for our for our horses n the sport.... the alternative is that it is acceptable that JG and GVN and any jockey going forward can now interfere with favourites in races and we are all ok with that but GL who unfortunately was the victim in both cases being on the favourite in each race must be heavily punished for a retaliation, because apparently any retaliation to any injustice is considered the worst crime in sport,, yet we see it everyday in sports like soccer and rugby etc. and mitigating circumstances are taken into consideration, also same in horseracing in many jurisdictions worldwide,, the interference at the 150m is NOT what I am referring to, it is the 2x bumping of One Stripe in the early stages.
Mitigating circumstances are important factors in legal proceedings that can influence the outcome of a case, particularly in sentencing. They provide context and may lead to a lighter sentence or other more favorable outcomes for the defendant. Why is GL not entitled to this

A Direct Hit In The Battle Of Britain
GB is yet another sad casualty of the SA Horseracing Breeding Cemetery. Small Stud, can't be good, so written off. Boy time has a way of proving us

Oh yes I backed Cereus that day, the horse actually had some serious form.
I can't recall who the jockey was, I'm convinced it was'nt stable jockey Gavin Venter.
Anybody remembers?

TYVM Cecil, much appreciated.
She'll hopefully (fingers crossed) earn some more black type (2nd or 3rd) which will help with her future as a broodmare.
She had a gallop this morning (nearby the puddles lol) and looked good.

Turffontein Racemeeting Postponed To Sunday
Hi Shannon, Hollywoodbets Greyville moved to Monday. If Scottsville is tossed or moved, it would solve the double header riding arrangements for Sunday. However, the real joker in the pack is if the big Turffontein meeting on Saturday is rain affected!!!!
Amazing, I am sure most of us SP, readers of my vintage (72) have never known anything like this, in 60 years of following this wonderful
