Windrush Mare’s Sparkling Farewell

4 winners for Snaith & Fourie

The Justin Snaith-Richard Fourie combination boast a 33% win strike-rate and were unstoppable at Kenilworth on Saturday as they took four races on the nine-race programme.

.Nordic Breeze – farewell to a popular and talented mare

August was a big month but it looks like September is going to get even hotter for the newly established partnership.

“Nordic Breeze was already on the float to stud when I said to my brother, wait – there is a race for her at the start of September,” said Justin after the Windrush mare rounded off the four-timer by registering her sixth career win from 23 starts for earnings near a million rand.

The Normandy Stud-bred stakes winner is all class and loves the Kenilworth 1200m.

Oscar Foulkes confirmed that no decision had yet been made as to which stallion would cover the valuable mare, who is owned in partnership with Jane and Ken Truter.

“We will open a bottle or two of red wine to chat about it. And then whatever we remember tomorrow, will be the stallion of choice,”he joked. We’d guess that there is going to be a lot more science and calculation than that going into the decision!

Snaith’s first winner was the Australian-bred Camelot colt Crown Towers, followed by the improved Trip To The Sky in the third. The Trippi colt is one of the few horses left in the Michael de Broglio silks.

Richard Fourie then won the fourth on the classy Horse Chestnut gelding Magnificent Seven who made it 4 from 13 when winning the MR 91 Handicap in a canter. Nordic Breeze won the fifth.

SA Champion Justin Snaith – another big season ahead

The reigning SA champion trainer, Justin Snaith currently leads the national log with 21 winners and R1,4 million in stakes.

Fourie is on 18 winners for the season. That suggests he is well on track to his declared target of 200.

They just make it look so easy.
