The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in Port Elizabeth on 8 November 2019, Jockey Xolane (Charles) Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.28.

The particulars being that as the rider of BRANDINA, he was negligent in failing to notify a licensed official that his lead bag had become dislodged, during the running of Race 7 at Fairview Racecourse on 25 October 2019 and that he subsequently had retrieved the lead bag and weighed in at the correct weight.
Jockey Ndlovu pleaded guilty to the charge and was found guilty of the charge.
After considering all the mitigating factors, which included the finishing position of BRANDINA, the Inquiry Board imposed a fine of R10 000, of which R7 500 is wholly suspended for a period of twenty-four months, on condition that he is not found guilty of a contravention of this rule during this period.
Jockey Ndlovu has the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
Furthermore, in terms of Rule 72.3.1, BRANDINA is disqualified from the said race and the provisions of Rule 67.7.8 shall apply.
