The Highlands bred Eyes Wide Open is a son of Dynasty (Fort Wood) out of the one time winning Live Your Dreams (Jallad).

He was the second highest priced lot at R850 000 when purchased at the KZN Sibaya Yearling Sale.

Racing in the Hattingh family’s Chrigor Stud silks, he won the Gr1 Premiers Champion Juvenile Stakes in 2017 at his third start and followed up with victory in the Gr2 Peninsula Handicap on to a big win in the Gr1 Cape Derby in 2018.

His next win was to come seventeen months later in the Greyville 1900 and he subsequently ran a decent fourth after trouble in running in the July.

His three feature runs this term, culminating with a poor effort in the Sun Met, have been little to write home about.
