Candyman Bridges Eight Year Absence With Feature Winner

Daughter of Master Of My Fate looks exciting

East Cape Nursery winner Anotherdanceforme maintained her impeccable record from her four starts when she ran out a facile winner under Andrew Fortune of the R175 000 World Sports Betting Listed Dahlia Plate at Fairview on Friday.

The Candyman last rode in Gqeberha on 19 May 2017, booting home the Sail From Seattle mare Perfect Tale also for trainer Alan Greeff, and it was a happy return after an eight year absence – and it couldn’t have been more of an armchair ride on the impressive Anotherdanceforme.

Relaxed two lengths off the gallop early, the Peter Moor-owned filly cruised into the lead at prohibitive odds of 5-10 at the 500m and lengthened to beat King Prawn (25-1) by 3,25 lengths in a time of 69,42 secs for the 1200m straight.

Course-and-distance debut winner Hot Sauce (3-1) was a quarter length back in third.

“She’s good enough to win in Durban,” quipped Andrew Fortune, who said ‘this is the type of horse I love to ride’.

“The sky’s the limit and she just needs to mature. I have some lovely 2yo’s this season and she is right up there with the best of them,” added Alan Greeff.

Now a winner of all her 4 starts for stakes of R303 750, the Varsfontein Stud-bred Anotherdanceforme is a daughter of Master Of My Fate (Jet Master) out of the unraced What A Winter mare Destiny Dancer. She is thus a full-sister to Listed Sweet Chestnut Stakes winner Princess Izzy.

She was a R650 000 buy from the 2024 National Yearling Sale.

This feature was shown on SABC Sport – something of a milestone moment in itself. We have no details of the background to that decision.
