The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa (NHA) confirms that at an Inquiry held at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse on 18 June 2025, trainer Candice Bass-Robinson was charged with a contravention of Rule 51.3.

The particulars being that as the Authorised Agent of RED PALACE, which was engaged to run in Race 4, the SplashOUT Gr3 VICTRESS STAKES, run over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse on 14 December 2024, she scratched this horse when not entitled to do so.
Trainer Bass-Robinson pleaded not guilty but was found guilty of the charge.
In assessing the penalty, the Inquiry Board considered the aggravating and mitigating factors as well as Candice’s record pertaining to this type of contravention and imposed a penalty of a fine of R15 000.00 (fifteen thousand rand) of which R10 000.00 (ten thousand rand) is wholly suspended for a period of two years on condition that she is not found guilty of a contravention of this Rule in that period.
Trainer Candice Bass-Robinson was given the Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed.
