The Grand Heritage – How’s Your Form?

Bigger fields and the logistics that are important to punters

The bumper 28 runner fields anticipated in the jackpot races on the Grand Heritage raceday at the Vaal on 1 October has seen a punter querying the capacity of the forms currently in use.

Brian Peach asked on www.sportingpost.co.za comments:

How do you pick horses above 20 on a Pick 6 form?

We took the query up with the authorities.

Mervin Gamble, General Manager: Sports Betting at Phumelela said:

New 30-runner bet slips are in circulation.  Branches have these and we will ensure that they are available on-course as well.  Terminals can read both sets of betting slips and over the next few months the old 20-runner slips will be phased out.

Patrick Loker, Commercial Executive at Gold Circle said:

The system has provision for 30 runners but the betmark cards only accommodate 20 runners. So in Gold Circle country all bets for the Grand Heritage raceday bigger than normal fields on 1 October will have to be taken manually (i.e. verbally). Notices to that effect are being circulated to all outlets. The website will also accommodate 30 runners.
