Avail is the only maiden

A new batch of horses, including former Snaith feature winner Charles Lytton and CTS Million Dollar discard Forward Drive, are expected from South Africa at the end of this month.

18 horses will be shipped, while two others, Mount Fuji and Copper’s Pride, have been placed on the reserve list.

Half of this new batch is heading to the Patrick Merven Stable. He is expecting 9 and, out of those, the former Dean Kannemeyer trained Avail is the only maiden.

Charles Lytton (G. Rousset) has the best C.V, with 5 wins and 5 places in 13 races. This horse was due to run on Met Day in Cape Town, but was withdrawn at the last minute on the request of his new connections.

AnswerInGenesis (S. Narang) is the only 2-year-old, and he has finished runner-up in both of his races so far.

The rest are either 3 or 4-year-olds.

The other trainers who are expecting allocations  from this batch are Shirish Narang (2), Vincent Allet (2), Jean-Michel Henry (2) and Alain Perdrau (2).

The list of all the new horses expected at the end of this month:

  1. Merven : Bono Vox, The Tripster, Moi Power, Red China, Sir Earl Grey, Colonel Bling, Guilty As Charged, Bikini Billy, Avail.
  2. Narang : Split The Breeze, AnswerInGenesis, Copper’s Pride (Réserve).
  3. Perdrau : Schachar, Forward Drive.
  4. Rousset : Charles Lytton, Mount Fuji (Réserve).
  5. Allet : What’s News, Charles My Boy.
  6. M. Henry : Dark Avenger, Entree
