A Beautiful Thing

Tribute to retired Champion Beauty Generation

Jockey Zac Purton has paid tribute to retired Champion racehorse Beauty Generation (Road to Rock-Stylish Bel, by Bel Esprit).

The scmp.com. reports:

“Every jockey hopes that a horse like him comes along for them, thankfully for me, he did,” Purton said.

“It was a great ride while it lasted, it was never going to go on forever – they never do – but when he was at his best it was really enjoyable. It felt like he was invincible for a long period of time there, because he was.”

An eight-time Gr1 winner, Beauty Generation retires as the record holding prizemoney earner in Hong Kong at HK$106,233,750 with 20 career wins from 41 starts.

Beauty Generation had his first seven starts in Australia under his original name, Montaigne, where he won twice and placed in the Gr1 Rosehill Guineas and Gr2 Hobartville Stakes.

In Hong Kong, Beauty Generation won the 2017, 2018 Gr1 Hong Kong Mile, 2018, 2019, 2020 Gr1 Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup, 2018 Gr1 Champions Mile, 2019 Gr1 Stewards’ Cup, and 2019 Gr1 Champions Mile, as well as eight other group races. Purton rode him in seven of his eight Gr1 wins.
