Alado’s son wins on International Jockeys Day

Northern Conquest’s comfortable second win shows much promise

A still green but stunning looking 3 year old, NORTHERN CONQUEST carried Jimmy Fortune to a victory for the International Jockeys at Kenilworth yesterday by 1¾ lengths under second top weight in spite of weight for age allowances.

The Vaughan Marshall trained son of ALADO is out of a CAESOUR mare and was bred by Klawervlei Stud then selected and purchased by Allan Bloodlines for the ALADO support programme operated by Allan under the authority of owner/breeder Miss Kirsten Rausing.

A winner of 2 now, NORTHERN CONQUEST has stakes form and should return to that level after another run and a couple more months to mature.  Vaughan Marshall urged a little patience for a still-strengthening youngster and said “We strongly fancied him today but Jimmy said he was still green when he hit the front and should improve”.

“We have other Alados with Vaughan, some home bred some purchased, also a filly in PE with Yvette who will win as soon as she gets a draw in those big fields and a recently gelded 3yo who ticks the right boxes” added David Allan. “Ed’s Angel has won five for her connections bless her, and there are others in the mix.  On top of that, a number of mares in the programme are producing carefully mated Alado foals this season from nicely bred mares and there will be a larger number for next year so users of Alado can feel supported!”
