Schwarz Makes History At Greyville

SAJA Head Boy looks to have plenty of promise

Apprentice Denis Schwarz became the third apprentice after Athandiwe Mgudlwa and Michael Roberts to ride the jackpot when he booted home the four winners of the exotic bet at Greyville on Wednesday.

Mgudlwa rode the Jackpot at Scottsville in 2011 – 40 years after the legend Michael Roberts had achieved the same feat.

Like Mgudlwa, the third year Schwarz is also currently Head Boy of the SA Jockey Academy and he celebrated a magical milestone in his short career at the weather relocated meeting.

With the Jackpot paying a healthy R4897-50, Schwarz, who recently wrote his Matric, rode as if his life depended on it – scoring on Everlasting Love for Robbie Hill, Lala trained by Doug Campbell,  Cosima for Garth Puller and another Campbell winner in Hey Georgie Girl in the final leg.
