The next ARQANA Breeding Stock Sale, which will be held from Saturday 6 to Tuesday 9 December, will offer the extremely rare opportunity of buying a young broodmare from one of the finest and most active thoroughbred families in Europe. Indeed, SAMBA BRAZIL will go through the Deauville sales ring on Saturday 6 December in foal to super sire DUBAWI.

This young five year old mare’s repertoire includes a victory in the Grosse Europe Meile, a Group 3 run over a mile at Munich, race in which she finished ahead of German Guineas winner Akua’da, as well as Group 1 winner Amaron. Awarded a rating of 106, this Gestüt Karlshof bred mare proved precocious enough to win at two and showed enough consistency and quality to shine at three and four years old.

By the proven sire Teofilo, himself a son of Galileo, Samba Brazil is from one of the best German families and one of the finest lineages in Europe, that of the matriarch Sacarina. The latter has produced Group 1 winners Samum, Schiaparelli, Salve Regina as well as the dams of 2014 German Derby winner and one of the leading three year olds in Europe this season Sea the Moon, and Sortilège, who also won at the highest level. Samba Brazil herself is a sister to Seismos, a Group 1 winner who will line up for the Caulfield Cup (Gr.1) on Saturday in Australia and to Soberania, a daughter of Monsun who finished second in the Preis der Diana (Gr.1) at three before finishing an excellent fourth in the Prix Vermeille (Gr.1), not beaten far by the top-class fillies Stacelita and Plumania.

It is extremely rare to find a representative of this magnificent family for sale; progeny of the family are therefore always highly sought after, as was shown by the Monsun half sister to Samba Brazil who fetched the top price of the August Yearling Sale this year at €1,200,000. A few years earlier, Sortita, a daughter of Sacarina, was also responsible for the highest price of the August Sale at Deauville.

Samba Brazil will be offered in foal for the first time to Dubawi with an excellent last service date of 16 March. Dubawi is without a shadow of doubt one of the world’s leading active sires. In 2014 his yearlings were sold for an average of €828,000, with a median of €656,000 and top price of over €2,000,000. These figures are fully justified by the impressive race results of his progeny, which includes 15% Stakes winners, 10% Group winners and show great consistency at the highest level.

The catalogue for the December Breeding Stock Sale will be available on www.arqana.com

from Friday 31 October
