Looking For Some Global Appeal?

Sunday Gr3 winner boosts Ascot Stud's CPYS lot 189

The eyecatching victory by Dynasty daughter Storm Destiny in Sunday’s Gr3 Three Troikas Stakes marked a 62nd individual black type winner for the Ridgemont Highlands stallion.

Bred by the Ascot Stud, and one of two graded stakes winners on the day for trainer Mike de Kock and jockey Gavin Lerena, Storm Destiny flew up from well off the pace to just snare Running Brave close to home in the 1400m feature, before going on to post a head victory in the R250 000 contest.

Storm Destiny, whose beaten rivals on Sunday included the Equus Champion Return Flight, took her tally of wins to three, from just six starts, and her earnings to R311 188.

A full-sister to Listed Memorial Mile winner Stormy Eclipse, Storm Destiny, who looks a real classic prospect, was a R500 000 buy from the 2017 National Yearling Sale.

Dr Ashley Parker of Ascot Stud told the Sporting Post on Monday  that he had a particularly high quality draft of three for the Cape Premier Yearling, including a Global View half sister to Storm Destiny.

“The half-sister to Mike de Kock’s Sunday feature winner is a beautiful athletic specimen from a family of winners. I think there will be plenty of interest in her,”he said.

From the same family as the well performed Oriental Tiger (2012.g. by Lecture-Colonial Tiger, by Tiger Ridge-Lightning Sands) Global Appeal (#189) is out of the prolific winner producing Kilconnel mare Stormy Appeal – a versatile fourteen-time winner who won from 1000m to 2000m.

Global View in action

Her sire Global View offers his first yearlings at this sale. He is a son of record breaking champion sire Galileo, who currently has nine GB/Ire General Sires titles to his name and who has sired 278 stakes winners to date.

Ascot Stud’s young sire is bred on the same Galileo/Storm Cat cross as the major G1 winners Ballydoyle, Clemmie, Churchill, Decorated Knight, Gleneagles, Happily,  Marvellous and outstanding broodmare Misty For Me – dam of Gr1 winners Roly Poly and U S Navy Flag.

A graded stakes winner at two and three, he won both the Gr3 Generous Stakes (at two) and Gr2 American Turf Stakes at three, with Global View banking nearly $500 000 during his racing career.
