Avontuur Welcomes New Broodmare

A Daughter’s Legacy winner of the Gr3 Final Fling Stakes over 1800m joins the broodmare band Avontuur Thoroughbred Stud farm

“We’ve been interested in her for about 6 months now and after that swansong win, it’s wonderful to see her settling into her new paddock in this beautiful environment along the slopes of the Helderberg. She has an impeccable pedigree and the heart of a lion and we are planning to have her visit VAR soon,” said Pippa Mickleburgh.

The D Cohen & Sons bred Windrush bay leaves racing with a very proud record of eight wins from thirty starts for R700 000 in prize money, which makes her R90 000 price tag look very sweet.

She will now form part of Avontuur’s renowned band of brood mares like Minelli, Sarabande and others, who have added so much to the success of this operation from the time the farm was bought by the Taberer family in the early 80’s.

“This purchase is part of our commitment to the future of racing in South Africa and we look forward to her settling in and then contributing further to this exciting sport,” Pippa said

The Enchanting Currency Of Fate

It is eerie to think that there would have been no Siren’s Call, Sound Of Warning, or for that matter Call To Unite, had fate not decreed that Enchanted Cove follow her dam to South Africa, and that Peter de Beyer had the foresight to return Elusive Fort back home from the States as well!
