Record-breaking Vodacom Durban July winning breeders Maine Chance Farms have enlisted the services of noted pedigree expert Mark Tarry to assist breeders in finding the most suitable mares for their stallion Black Minnaloushe.
Tarry was instrumental in the acquisition of Black Minnaloushe on behalf of Maine Chance and also selected Gr1 Premier’s Champion Stakes winner Gold Onyx for leading owner, Chris Van Niekerk.
He achieved a notable Gr1 double on the same day when Happy Archer , a filly purchased by him, won the Gr1 Thekwini Fillies Stakes.
In the process he demonstrated how effective pedigree analysis can be rewarding – enjoying 3 Gr1 winners from just 7 horses acquired in Australasia – for an average spend of A$ 40 000 – which was less than a third of the sale average!

He has also managed the career of broodmare of the year Golden Apple and was responsible for the mating that produced 2012 Vodacom Durban July winner and current day Klawervlei stallion, Pomodoro.
