The 41 year old Piet Botha, who made a comeback to the saddle in April 2017 after a five year injury enforced absence, rode his last winner as a professional jockey at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Botha rode a well-judged race to get Jay Rock home for Glen Puller to win the last, in what is his last ride – barring any future comebacks, that is!
He takes out his trainer’s licence from Wednesday 1 August and will be based at Milnerton.
