Argentinian bred Bouclette Top in action

The Argentinian-bred gelding, who raced with success in the familiar black of Wilgerbosdrift Stud, has joined the Ramapatee Gujadhur yard and will continue his career in Mauritius this season.

While he was always thereabouts in the classics, his biggest career success came in the R1 million Gr2 Charity Mile in October 2015 when a clever change of tactics saw him swoop from some way off the gallop under SA champion jockey Gavin Lerena to beat a revitalised M L Jet and the handily weighted Mitraad.

Bouclette Top had generally raced handily, but showed his versatility with a nice turn of foot.

Bred in Argentina by Firmamento, Bouclette Top is a 5yo gelded son of Storm Cat stallion, Giant’s Causeway, out of the four time winning Gr1 winning Honour And Glory mare, Bouclette Glory.

He won 5 races from 1160m to 1800m, so has a nice mix of speed and stamina to be an effective runner on the tight Champ de Mars circuit.

Bouclette Top also ran 11 places from his 24 starts with stakes earnings of over R1 500 000.
