BSA’s Cape Yearling Sale Incentive

Mistico Equestrian Centre - 28 February

With just under three weeks to go to the 2020 renewal of the Cape Yearling Sale, interest amongst buyers is gaining momentum with the exciting prospect of finding a potential winner of the inaugural BSA Cape Yearling Sale Cup, scheduled to be run on the prestigious Cape Derby Day in February 2021.

Held under the auspices of Bloodstock South Africa, the genuine value-for-money regional sale will be conducted at the scenic Mistico Equestrian Centre outside of Paarl on Friday 28 February.

The catalogue, comprising 181 yearlings hailing from some of South Africa’s top breeders, is a broadly diverse one of some depth. And the opportunity to find the equivalent of the likes of recent Gr3 Lebelo Sprint winner Mr Flood – a R50 000 buy from the 2017 Cape Sale – or one of the smart gelding’s fellow graded stakes winners of the ilk of Doosra, Elusive Heart, Final Judgement, Hack Green, Princess Peach, and Drakenstein Stud’s exciting young stallion Gold Standard, is no further than a bid away.

The additional incentive of a linked sales race to be run for a minimum stake of R550 000 on the prestigious high-profile Cape Derby day in 2021 now raises the game for buyers.

“The attraction of this sale’s historic record of generating stakes winners has now been enhanced by the added golden reward of a linked race for graduates. Hosting the race on a major Gr1 raceday in the height of the Cape Summer Of Champions provides a thrilling splash of glamour and excitement,” added Bloodstock SA’s Chris Haynes

He recalled that in the modern era, the Cape Derby has produced Met and July winners, as well as Equus Champions.

“It is an arena of champions and we are truly proud to be associated with Kenilworth Racing on a great day on the racing calendar,” added Haynes.

He went on to remind buyers that graduates of the Cape Yearling Sale will also be in line to earn the R60 000 bonus payable by BSA to maiden winners of Juvenile races in South Africa.
