On Friday, Snaith’s former retained rider Richard Fourie was aboard when Captain Courteous came forward easily at the 200m to beat the late finishing Sky Masterson by 2,75 lengths.

Fourie, who was not required to drive the horse out in the finish, said that Captain Courteous was a big horse who had run green – and needed further.

He added that gelding may be the next step.
