Licenced Jockey Guilty of Betting Activity

The National Horseracing Authority confirms that following the receipt of information in December 2013, an investigation was instituted into alleged betting activity by Mr Chad Little.

Subsequent to the investigation, an Inquiry Board was convened. The Inquiry Board commenced the hearing on 12 February 2014, but had to adjourn. The hearing resumed and was concluded on Wednesday 12 March 2014.

Mr Chad Little, a jockey licensed for the racing seasons 2012/2013 and 2013/2014, was charged with a contravention of Rule 72.1.38 read with Rule 21.2 in that as a licensed jockey, he was indirectly involved in placing bets with a bookmaker between 29 November 2012 and 8 December 2012.

Mr Little pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Inquiry Board found Mr Little guilty and imposed a penalty of a suspension from riding in races for a period of 90 days.

Mr Little has the right of appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed
