Ertijaal will challenge Harry’s Son
As anticipated, a high-quality field will contest the R2 million Gr1 SA Classic at Turffontein next Saturday, but the connections of the Gr2 Dingaans winner Unparalleled may well be feeling disappointed as their smart Lateral colt will only get a run through the back-door of a late withdrawal.
It appears that a failure on the part of Unparalleled’s trainer to phone through to the National Racing Bureau timeously prior to final declarations led to the colt being classed as a reserve runner.
The field includes the SASCOC SA Triple Crown first leg winner Harry’s Son, as well as Mike De Kock’s smashing Investec Cape Derby winner, the undefeated Ertijaal.
Both have sadly drawn poorly.
The Gr1 SA Fillies Classic did not attract a capacity field but the outstanding Majmu remains a notable absentee.
Wilgerbosdrift SA Triple Tiara first leg winner Siren’s Cove looks ripe to score again and has drawn 7.
