The National Horseracing Authority confirms that at an Inquiry held in the Stipendiary Stewards Boardroom at the Vaal Racecourse on 1 October 2020, Jockey Craig Zackey was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7.

The particulars being that as the rider of Brooklyn Bridge he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to Fresh From The US in Race 7 at the Vaal Racecourse on 10 September 2020.

Mr Zackey pleaded not guilty to the charge but was found guilty of the charge.

In arriving at a penalty, the Inquiry Board took into account all the evidence presented, as well as what was said in mitigation and ruled that he be suspended from riding in races for a period of seven days.

Mr Zackey waived his Right of Appeal against both the finding and the penalty imposed and will take his suspension from 9 October 2020 to 15 October 2020.
