Crop Use – Danielson Suspended And Fined

The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa confirms that at an Inquiry held in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 27 March 2024, Jockey Raymond Danielson was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 read with Guideline N on the use of the crop.

The particulars being that, as the rider of Kakiebos, he misused his crop by striking this filly on the ear on a number of occasions during the running of Race 6 at the Vaal Racecourse on 7 March 2024.

Jockey Danielson pleaded guilty and was found guilty of the charge.

The Board after considering the mitigating factors presented, ruled that Jockey Danielson be suspended from riding in races for a period of fourteen (14) days and a fine of R25,000 was imposed.

Jockey Danielson was given the Right of Appeal against the penalty imposed.
