CTS Double For Marcus

Captain Al star is back to best

Anton Marcus set a new benchmark for stakes earnings by an individual jockey on Sun Met Day, and after winning the CTS 1200 on Cirillo, he was back in the payout queue on One World in the CTS 1600.

Freshened up after losing his unbeaten record behind Soqrat and Twist Of Fate in the Cape Guineas last time out, One World was in his old galloping mood on Saturday.

Brought over so casually from his wide draw by Anton Marcus, he grabbed the initiative early on and was never headed.

The ever game Twist Of Fate moved up under new rider S’manga Khumalo at the 300m and looked dangerous for a few strides – but he had no answers to the machine in the blue and white silks who motored away down the rail.

One World held off Twist Of Fate to win by 1,50 lengths in a time of 96,79 secs.

Vardy came out of the bunch to bank third cheque ahead of Dan Katz’ 100-1shot Skye Lane who boosted the quartet.

The final cheque of R50 000 went to Majestic Mozart, who again stayed on well – without threatening.

A Klawervlei bred, One World was another winner on the day for Captain Al and is out of the UK placed Aquilonia (Giant’s Causeway).

One World cost R425 000 on the Cape Premier Yearling Sale  and took his earnings to R3 136 250 with 6 wins and a place from 7 starts.
