CTS Put On Bonus Race

Kenilworth Racing to take up 50% of stake

Cape Thoroughbred Sales (CTS) announced on Monday that they will stage a bonus race on the Ready To Run Stakes Day at Kenilworth, this coming Saturday.

The race will be called the CTS Ready To Run Stakes Consolation and will be run over 1400m for a stake of R85 000.

The event was conceived at acceptance stage on Monday morning, when 25 runners stood their ground for the main RTR Stakes contest (R1,25-million).

Grant Knowles, Bloodstock & Marketing Director of CTS, pictured above, commented:

“Only 16 runners are allowed for the CTS Ready To Run Stakes, but the consolation gives everyone a chance to compete.

“It’s the first time we have done this, we value all our buyers and at least this way they have an interest on the big day. Kenilworth Racing will be taking up 50% of the sponsorship.”

Trainer Justin Snaith commented: “I was delighted when I received a call from the National Racing Bureau that a RTR consolation race had been added. It’s wonderful that every horse and owner are now included. This is a great initiative and very generous of CTS.”
